Description: Your group will enjoy access to the commonwealth's grandest private homes and gardens showcasing Virginia's oldest horticultural tradition. Tour proceeds from Historic Garden Week, hosted by the Garden Club of Virginia, fund the restoration and preservation of public landscapes and state parks. Iconic projects include work at Monticello and Mount Vernon, to name a few. This popular annual event, celebrating its 84th year, features a dozen tours conducive to bus groups, including more than 75 stops and numerous special HGW events taking place this April 2017. Garden lovers will especially appreciate sojourns to Albemarle County, the Eastern Shore and Williamsburg. If your group wants to focus on history and architecture, explore the James River Plantations, Petersburg, the Northern Neck and two tours in Richmond, located within close proximity to each other. Lexington\'s Saturday tour of 6 home/gardens are all open for the very first time to the public. The Winchester tour takes place in a bucolic setting, offering scenic countryside vistas. Tours take place over eight consecutive days and include mid-week visits in numerous communities including Virginia Beach and Fredericksburg. The Danville and Chatham garden clubs are hosting together for the first time on their Friday tour this spring. Historic Garden Week will appeal to avid gardeners, history buffs and those that appreciate interior design, as well as groups looking to make springtime in Virginia especially memorable.
